Joinery is literally the craft of joining pieces of wood to form functional items. You are probably familiar with some traditional joints such as dovetails and mortise and tenon. But for me joinery is also about joining heart, hand and mind to form something that reveals and honors the life that brought us the wood – the amazing life of the tree which joins minerals from the earth with light from the sun and water from the skies to provide us with such beautiful and useful gifts. Wood has been my teacher, provider and friend for most of my life and here I hope to pass that gift on in some small way.
